Of Patrick Swayze and broken ankles

Mon Sep 14, 2009, 7:49 PM
Well, after his long and strong battle with pancreatic cancer, Patrick Swayze passed away at the age of 57.
Wow, this is...weird. I guess it hasn't really sunken in yet or something. I mean, I wasn't a follower of the man or anything. By no means had I seen each and every single one of his movies and had a poster of him hanging above my bed (as I'm sure is the case with some young person out there with an ongoing obsession with the 80's) But still, in some ways, I kinda grew up with this guy. My mom loved watching Dirty Dancing with me and my sister (which may be why I'm sure 'mature' now) and I really loved that movie, and still do. And then he played one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite movies, based off of one of my favorite books (Darry in The Outsiders)He was also one of the first actors I can remember ever seeing in a movie, knowing by name, and thinking "wow, you're rather attractive". So, even though I really only remember Mr. Swayze for three of his better known movies, his death has certainly struck a cord. I will miss you Patrick, as much as I child of the 90's can.

...
In other news, my mother broke her ankle today. I'm seeing a great few months in the near future. If anyone reads this who has broken a bone or knows someone who has, can I have some advice please? It's been a while since I've dealt with something like this.
